Rare and very unique 18th or 19th Century oak corner cabinet or cupboard that was ornately carved by a professional artist of the time period. The aesthetic melds several influences, even the Celtic.
The central motif most likely derives from the medieval illumination and it's most likely British (although French or Belgian is also possible due to the celtic influences and medieval illusions modernized as they are). This is a corner cabinet with a rounded back. Brass lock with skeleton key, although key doesn't currently turn the lock mechanism. This piece is approximately 200 years old and has wear consistent with age, although as you can see from the photos it has a lovely patina and the carving is in excellent condition.Item is located in New York City.
