ANTIQUE 19thC CARVED FRENCH GOTHIC PEDIMENT NORTHWIND GARGOYLE FACE FISH SCALES

This beautiful piece once graced a large, French sideboard/server as the top pediment. We have provided a photo of the sideboard for your reference.

This is a 3-piece unit. The base is carved in large fish scales and the center section is thick crown molding. The top section is a heavily carved piece featuring a large, Northwind/Devil or Gargoyle face with carved drapery swag below. This screws into the crown molding section of the base piece. The hand carving is obvious as are the hand planed sections. This piece is in very nice condition. It is a salvaged piece so there is some evidence of age and use. There is a glued repair to the top of the Northwind face, but it is not glaring, and it is very secure. This is also a LARGE and HEAVY piece.

It could be wall mounted (into a stud) or could be used on top of a cabinet, as a mantel piece, etc. It is substantial and measures 35" long/wide, 14" tall and 7.75 deep.
