Our Stock # 18.7990. This is an antique estate desk. A Scottish, oak library table with leather skiver in Gothic revival taste, dating to the Victorian period, circa 1880. Wonderfully stout, and fascinatingly finished desk. Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order. Select oak presents deep russet hues and fine grain interest. Presented with a later, quality tooled and embossed leather skiver. Prominent, stout upper profile with deep apron and carved, canted corners. Tastefully inset, the leather skiver accentuated with gold tooled borders and embossed to perimeter.

Pair of concealed drawers reside across the front with blind pulls to the trailing edge. Rhombus panels adorn each corner, with delicately carved angles catching the light.

Raised upon a pair of thick, enthusiastically carved supports. Expressing the Gothic revival overtones, scrolled and heraldic motif in abundance. Stretcher foot rest with deep profile unites both sides. Standing on shaped bracket feet, riding smoothly upon inset castors.

This is a dashing antique estate desk, robust in Scottish oak and issuing superb Gothic overtones. Solid joints and construction, delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
