Antique W&H Gothic Carved Oak Quarter striking Bracket Clock
A large late Victorian oak mantel clock. The arched case carved with scrolls, fruiting foliage, herms, flower heads and a mask, the arched brass dial with subsidiary slow/fast and chime/silent dials and silvered chapter rings. The movement strikes the hours and quarters on two gongs. This late 19th century German oak quarter strike bracket clock. The movement stamped for Winterhalder and Hoffmeier.
An early 20th century directors style clock by Winterhalder & Hofmeier, the arched top Oak case decorated with carved figures, the Corinthian columns flanking the gilt dial with matted centre, silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, pierced gilt metal spandrels and two subsidiary dials for Chime/Silent and a regulation dial. The 8 day movement signed W&H Sch and striking on two gongs, 50cm high x 35.5 cm wide. Silvered chapter ring with Roman hours, gilt metal spandrels, the substantial two train movement with anchor escapement in the rear of the case, two gongs ting-tang quarter strike. Good quality Gothic carved bracket clock working order with key and pendulum.
