Gothic Revival Quarter Sawn Oak Carved Sideboard
In two parts, the attached back/crest board features a large central panel with a landscape carved with a central castle with turret and flag amongst three large trees. A hunter with dog in left foreground and a farm with animals and peasants in right foreground. Mountains and clouds form the background within a beaded molding flanked by leafy cartouches.
Each end post carved with an engraved half torso of a bearded figure. The rectangular case with carved molded edge above three aligned drawers alternating with wild cat masks above three cabinet doors, each with panel carved with a floral central cartouche flanked by four pilasters, each carved with a half torso of a stern human figure beneath an Ionic capital and scrolled scrolled base, above a single long drawer. The base carved with reeded molding, blocked at each end and raised on square reeded feet. SIZE: 65" h x 72" w x 27 d.
