Pair Antique French Gothic Renaissance Twin Beds Heavily Carved Dragons Phoenix
A remarkable pair of late 19th century twin beds in the French Gothic Renaissance style! Four poster style with the headboards and footboards are ornately carved and have thick, tall, fluted columns. The headboards are hand carved and hand planed. They feature ornately carved, raised scrolls with two large gothic dragons. There is a unique, center medallion featuring a Phoenix bird as the crest.
The footboards have raised scrolls with center fleur-de-lis. The columns/posts are thick and carved with large pineapple finials. The finials are fixed and not removable. The beds are stained in a very dark finish which is dark brown in direct light, but can look ebony at times. The beds retain their original, wooden side rails.The pieces are all substantial and are heavy. The beds are sturdy when assembled. This is a unique pair of incredible character. The headboards measure 50 in height at the center. They are 41" wide and are 4" deep at the feet.
The footboards are 40" tall at the posts; 21" tall at the center. Again, they are 41" wide and 4" deep at the feet. The interior measurement for a mattress is 39.
